Smiling Model Gripping Hair with HandFor many reasons, we often put a lot of pressure on ourselves when it comes to looking our best. Skin blemishes are among the visual imperfections we are acutely aware of, even if very few others notice them. Everyone’s skin is different, but when it comes to dark spots, aging spots, Melasma, and hyperpigmentation, there is a revolutionary solution. Learn about how PicoSure® Laser treats dark spots, aging spots, Melasma, and hyperpigmentation to restore your skin’s texture, complexion, and glow.

What Is PicoSure®?

PicoSure® is a laser treatment used to remove tattoos and treat various skin conditions using specific wavelengths as determined by your doctor. The technology is used to treat skin discolorations by implementing a wavelength of 755 nanometers, which is a level of light rapidly absorbed by melanin – the pigment that creates dark spots. The laser is passed through a specialized lens, targeting the treatment area(s), to break down excess melanin, which is then absorbed by the body and disappears.

Unlike traditional laser treatments, PicoSure® uses a patented PicoSure® Focus Lens Array (FLA) to penetrate to a specific depth of the skin. This energy is redistributed to target pigmentation with high-intensity energy and causes it to create a Laser Induced Optical Breakdown (LIOB) area that ultimately stimulates collagen and elastin, for a more youthful appearance.

How Are Dark Spots Treated With PicoSure®?

Sunny days are plentiful in San Diego, and that means a higher risk of sun exposure and, thus, dark spots, also known as age spots or sunspots. These discolorations are a common concern among individuals seeking to rejuvenate their skin. The PicoSure® laser specifically targets these pigment clusters, stimulating the body’s natural healing response. Through a series of treatments, dark spots gradually fade, revealing a more even skin tone and renewed texture.

What Is Melasma and How Does PicoSure® Laser Help?

Melasma is a skin condition usually triggered by hormonal changes and most often experienced by women. The resulting chronic hyperpigmentation often impacts self-esteem and quality of life, and previous treatments were often long-term and less effective.

PicoSure® has been proven to be a long-lasting and effective alternative to break down these discolorations with hyper-focused laser pulses that not only remove melanin, but stimulate new collagen and elastin for a smoother complexion and more even skin tone. Plus, Melasma treatments with PicoSure® are short-term, often showing results within two to five treatments.

Can PicoSure® Laser Treatments Fix Hyperpigmentation?

Hyperpigmentation is caused by an excess production of melanin in the body, resulting in areas of uneven skin tone and dark spots. Whether caused by sun damage, acne scars, or other factors, hyperpigmentation can be corrected through PicoSure® Laser treatments and often requires only a few treatments for long-term results.
