Who Is a Candidate for CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting is an extremely gentle procedure, meaning that many patients in the San Diego area qualify for it. Unlike liposuction or abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), there is no surgery or anesthesia involved, which opens up options for patients who don’t qualify for these more in-depth methods of fat removal.
In particular, it’s a good choice for patients who want to get rid of:

Extra fat in the arms.

Extra fat in the hips and thighs.

Bulges or folds in the belly.

Fat pockets under the chin.

Love handles along the hips.

Fat around the bra line.

Fat on the back.

Patients need to know that CoolSculpting is not a weight-loss tool. Rather, it’s a procedure intended to help patients who are close to or at their ideal weight but still have stubborn pockets of fat that won’t go away with diet and exercise. Our team can help tone these areas using CoolSculpting and give you the look you’re trying to achieve.

Of course, to know for sure if you are a candidate, you should schedule a consultation with Dr. Kaweski at her San Diego office. During this visit, she’ll be able to perform an exam and talk with you about your goals. This can help her determine if CoolSculpting is the right choice or if another procedure might produce better results.

How Much Does CoolSculpting Cost?

For patients who may not be able to afford the upfront cost of CoolSculpting, Dr. Kaweski does accept credit cards. If credit is not an option, financing plans may be available. Patients who are interested can learn more about the financing options we offer by clicking here.

What Is the Recovery With CoolSculpting?

Everyone’s experience recovering from CoolSculpting will be a little bit different. However, because it’s not an invasive procedure, you can expect relatively low downtime paired with minimal side effects. There are no support garments, stitches, or drains to worry about like there are with a tummy tuck or liposuction.
The main thing you may notice after the procedure is achiness, tingling, and numbness in the treatment area. This should last for no more than two weeks, and it can usually be eliminated with over-the-counter pain medications.

Our CoolSculpting staff will recommend that you schedule a follow-up appointment about two weeks after the procedure to make sure you are doing well. If you are still having symptoms, she may take extra steps to assist in the healing process.

Otherwise, you will be able to return to your normal routine on the same day as the procedure. You may not notice results right away; these usually take three to six months to appear, as the body needs time to clear away the dead fat cells.

CoolSculpting FAQs

How Does CoolSculpting Work?

During the CoolSculpting procedure, the device will apply extremely cold temperatures to the skin for 30 to 40 minutes at a time. This coolness works to kill fat cells beneath the skin without damaging other tissues. Over the next few months, the body will gradually break down these fat cells and eliminate them, leaving an area that’s trimmed and toned.

Does CoolSculpting Hurt?

Since coolness numbs the skin, you won’t feel much of anything while the procedure is going on. The only time you may feel uncomfortable is in the first couple of minutes before the skin has had a chance to go numb. You may experience a bit of redness or swelling, but this should go away afterward.

How Long Do CoolSculpting Results Last?

As long as you maintain a healthy diet paired with regular exercise, CoolSculpting results can be permanent. However, if you neglect your health, fat may return to the treated areas. If this happens, it’s possible to get a touch-up treatment to rejuvenate the area.

How Much Fat Will I Lose During CoolSculpting?

You can expect to lose about 20% of the fat treated during the procedure. This will not result in weight loss on the scale, but it will help you get the slim and trim look you’ve been trying to achieve. If you want to trim down even more, you may be able to have multiple CoolSculpting sessions, but this is something our CoolSculpting staff will determine at your consultation.
