Dysport La Mesa and San Diego

Dysport is an injectable treatment that contains a similar formula to its forerunner Botox. Small amounts of botulinum type A works to relax facial muscles that lead to the formation of fine lines and wrinkles. By addressing the small muscles of the face, the outer surface of the skin is visibly smoother and younger looking. Dysport injections take just a few minutes to complete and require no downtime afterward, making this one of the most requested cosmetic treatments today.

Who is it For?

Dysport can help men and women achieve a more youthful look by smoothing dynamic wrinkles – those caused by contractions of the facial muscles. While the look is noticeably smoother, the ability to make facial expressions is not compromised. Dysport tends to work best of the following signs of aging:

  • Vertical lines between the eyebrows (frown lines)
  • Horizontal lines across the forehead
  • Fine lines at the outer corners of the eyes (crow’s feet)
  • Vertical lines above the upper lip
  • Lines and bands around the neck

Like Botox, Dysport is also recommended for some medical purposes, including treatment for uncontrollable sweating and a condition of the neck muscles known as cervical dystonia.

About the Procedure

Dysport is available at Aesthetic Arts Institute of Plastic Surgery in the La Mesa and San Diego area. Dr. Kaweski performs Dysport injections as an outpatient procedure, with topical anesthetic to aid patient comfort when necessary. The procedure must be performed with a degree of precision, to ensure the Dysport formula is injected directly into the facial muscle without affecting other areas of the face.

Depending on the number of injections administered, the procedure may take anywhere from a few minutes to a half-hour. Patients are allowed to return to work and regular activities immediately after treatment.

After the Procedure

There is no downtime and few side effects from Dysport injections. Some La Mesa and San Diego patients may experience mild swelling around the injection sites, which usually subsides on its own within a day or two. Patients are advised to avoid lying down for a few hours after the procedure to ensure the solution does not spread to other areas of the face.

What about Results?

Results of Dysport are apparent right away and continue to improve during the weeks following the procedure. Duration of results vary from patient to patient, but some find Dysport injections seem to last a bit longer than Botox treatments. Most patients require touch-up treatments every 4-6 months to maintain results.

Dysport is an innovative alternative to Botox that offers similar results in a minimally-invasive injectable treatment.
