Blonde model lying downGetting a Mommy Makeover is a huge decision for San Diego moms to make. It’s common for moms to only focus on their families, and put themselves on the backburner. But when you decide to rejuvenate your body through a tummy tuck, breast lift, breast augmentation and liposuction, you’re finally putting yourself first. As an experienced plastic surgeon, who’s even nicknamed Dr. Mommy Makeover®, Dr. Kaweski of Aesthetic Arts Institute of Plastic Surgery knows that moms who decide to move forward with this combination of surgeries want to ensure that their results last. That’s why she’s created this list of tips to maintain your surgical results after your procedure.

1. Make Sure You’re Done Having Children Before You Set Your Surgery Date

The most important thing that a woman in San Diego can do to maintain her Mommy Makeover results is to be certain she’s done having children before she has the surgery, and has a solid birth control plan in place. This isn’t because having children after a Mommy Makeover is dangerous. There’s nothing about a tummy tuck, breast lift, breast augmentation and liposuction that endangers any future pregnancies, should you decide to have a Mommy Makeover. However, future pregnancies are known to recreate the problems you’ve had Dr. Kaweski surgically fix. Because she wants to ensure her patients achieve long-lasting results, Dr. Kaweski asks all her candidates to be certain they’re done adding to their families before committing to a Mommy Makeover.

2. Wait to Have a Mommy Makeover Until You’re at or Very Near Your Goal Weight

It’s important for San Diego moms to realize that a Mommy Makeover is not a weight loss surgery. Sure, the procedure removes excess and sagging skin in the abdomen and breasts, and liposuction can remove up to 4lbs of fat per session. But, if you have a significant number of pounds away from your goal weight, it’s best to delay surgery until you achieve that magic number. That way, you’ll be happier with your overall surgical results, and more motivated to put in the work to maintain them.

3. Exercise Daily After You’ve Recovered from Surgery

In the initial weeks after your Mommy Makeover, San Diego women are advised not to exercise. It’s important to follow Dr. Kaweski’s “no exercise” instructions so you can properly heal from surgery. Once that restriction is lifted, though, it’s time to work out! Doing so will help you avoid gaining unwanted weight, which can negate your surgical results.

4. Eat a Healthy Diet to Prevent Unwanted Weight Gain

In addition to resuming exercise once cleared to do so, it’s important for San Diego Mommy Makeover patients to eat a healthy diet. You should be eating less than you did when you were pregnant because your caloric needs are now lower, and you also should avoid giving in to any sweet treat or fried food cravings now that you’re no longer eating for two.
