Sclerotherapy

Indication:

• To remove small varicosities of the legs, venous lakes, and small arteriovenous malformations

Description of the procedure:

• Numbing cream is placed on the areas to be sclerosed.
• Under loupe magnification, Dr. Kaweski will inject each vein with a small amount of the sclerosing agent.
• Compressive stockings will then be applied.

Intended Result:

• Immediately you will notice that there is some redness which should resolve over 24 hours.
• The veins will turn a brownish color which will take several months to a year to resolve.

Recuperation and healing:

• It is best if you remain on your feet and move as much as possible for the first three days following sclerotherapy.
• You can remove the stockings the day after the treatment.
