Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck)

Indications

  • Loose or sagging abdominal wall skin frequently associated with abnormal relaxation of the anterior abdominal wall muscles.

Description of Procedure:

  • The procedure is usually performed under general anesthesia either within the hospital or an outpatient surgical center.
  • Mini-abdominoplasty tightens the lower abdominal wall skin only.
  • Standard abdominoplasty tightens all of the abdominal wall skin.
  • Extended abdominoplasty tightens the abdomen and the flanks or sides. The scar extends around the flanks onto the lower back or extends vertically in the midline to encompass the excess skin noted laterally.

Intended result:

  • A smoother flatter abdomen

Recuperation and healing:

  • Postoperative discomfort is controlled with oral medication and pain pumps catheters inserted into the wound at the time of surgery.
  • The pain pumps provide numbing relief at the site as well as minimize the use of narcotics and therefore there is less postop nausea and vomiting.

Additional Procedures to Enhance Result:
Liposuction
